Alpha Protocol
A choice-driven espionage RPG that puts players in the role of Michael Thorton, a rogue secret agent caught in a global web of conspiracy, betrayal, and covert operations. Blending dialogue-driven storytelling, RPG progression, and branching consequences, the game lets every alliance, decision, and mission approach shape the outcome of a modern spy thriller.
About the Score
Jason composed Alpha Protocol's "stunning" score (Game Music Online) as a sleek hybrid espionage score, built around pulsing synths, filtered drumbeats, live orchestra, and global percussion. He described it as “a hip, modern score for undercover agents,” and said it was one of his first opportunities to write a true hybrid game score. He also played percussion on almost every cue, using rhythm to drive the game’s energy, intrigue, and international spy-thriller tone.
The score was shaped around the game’s worldwide locations and covert-ops identity, moving between electronic tension, orchestral action, and regionally flavored percussion. Audio Director Alex Brandon praised the result as music that “fit the environments like a glove,” with what he called the closest interactive “film score sound” he had heard.
Jason also collaborated with BT on the main theme. He would send orchestral MIDI and MP3 files to BT, who added signature stutter beats and synth leads, with the collaboration continuing back and forth over roughly four weeks before the full orchestra was recorded and combined with BT’s final mix.
“Stunning, both from a technological and compositional perspective.”
